توجه رئيس قرغيزستان صادر جاباروف بالشكر إلى روسيا الاتحادية، تقديراً لمساعدتها في استقرار الوضع بعد أحداث أكتوبر/تشرين الأول 2020 التي شهدتها بلاده موخرا.
وقال جاباروف في كلمته خلال حفل التنصيب الرئاسي في 28 يناير/كانون الثاني 2021: إن الشعب الثائر نجح في الحصول على استقالة الرئيس والحكومة، وإلغاء نتائج الانتخابات، ونحن تمكنا من تحقيق استقرار الوضع، ونعرب عن عميق امتناننا لجميع الدول التي قدمت لنا مساعدة لا تقدر بثمن، وخاصة روسيا، وكذلك جيراننا كازاخستان وأوزبكستان”.صاير جاباروف يؤدي اليمين الدستورية ويتولى رئاسة قرغيزستان رسميا2021-01-28
وبحسب جاباروف، ستواصل قرغيزستان اتباع سياسة تستهدف المناطق الجغرافية الرئيسية في السياسة الخارجية للدولة، وتعزيز العلاقات مع الشركاء الاستراتيجيين. مؤكدا: “لدينا مصير وتاريخ مشتركين. تعزيز العلاقات مع شركائنا الاستراتيجيين هو طريقنا”.
يُشار إلى احتجاجات حاشدة اندلعت في قيرغيزستان، خلال أكتوبر الماضي، ضد نتائج الانتخابات البرلمانية. وبعد الاشتباكات بين المتظاهرين وقوات الأمن، استولى أنصار أحزاب المعارضة، التي لم تنجح في الوصول إلى البرلمان، على مبنى البرلمان الذي يضم كذلك الإدارة الرئاسية. وأصيب أكثر من 1.2 ألف شخص في الاشتباكات، وقُتل شخص واحد. وقدمت الحكومة استقالتها وتم إلغاء نتائج الانتخابات.
وبعد الاستقالة الطوعية للرئيس السابق سورونباي جينبيكوف، استقر الوضع في الجمهورية وتوقفت الاحتجاجات. وأصبح زعيم المعارضة صادر جاباروف رئيساً بالوكالة ورئيساً للوزراء، ثم ترك منصبه للمشاركة في الانتخابات كأحد المواطنين.
وأجريت انتخابات رئاسية مبكرة في قرغيزستان في 10 يناير/كانون الثاني 2021. وكانت نسبة الإقبال منخفضة حيث لم تتجاوز نسبة المشاركين في عملية التصويت نسبة الـ 40% من إجمالي الناخبين. وقد منح 79.2% من الناخبين أصواتهم للمرشح صادر جاباروف، ليحل رئيس الدولة الأسبق، أداخان مادوماروف، ثانياً بنسبة بالكاد قاربت 7%.
