قالت وزارة الخارجية الروسية إن موسكو قد تراجع ما أعلنته سابقا من وقف لنشر الصواريخ المتوسطة والقصيرة المدى، بسبب خطط واشنطن نشر مثل هذه الأنظمة في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ.
أعلن ذلك نائب وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي ريابكوف، في تصريح صحفي اليوم الخميس، كما أوضح أنه تمت مناقشة هذه المسألة مؤخرا خلال زيارة وزير الخارجية الروسي لبكين.
وقال ريابكوف: “يجب علينا الرد على الردع المزدوج من خلال إجراء مضاد مزدوج. ولا شك أن إحدى نقاط هذا الرد المضاد ستكون مراجعة نهجنا تجاه الوقف الاختياري الأحادي الجانب لنشر مثل هذه الصواريخ”.
وأشار نائب وزير الخارجية إلى أن ما صرح به الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين في وقت سابق حيث قال إن “ظهور أسلحة أمريكية متوسطة وقصيرة المدى في أي منطقة من مناطق العالم سيؤدي إلى خطوات مماثلة من جانبنا”.
وأضاف ريابكوف أنه باتخاذ الخطط الأمريكية المقابلة المزيد والمزيد من الخطوط العريضة الملموسة، تنتقل روسيا إلى خطوات جوابية عملية، مشيرا إلى أن ذلك ينطبق أيضا على الاتجاه الأوروبي.
وكانت قد أعلنت واشنطن مطلع 2019 انسحابا أحاديا من معاهدة الصواريخ المتوسطة والقصيرة والمدى، متهمة موسكو بانتهاكها.
ووصفت روسيا الاتهامات الأمريكية بأنها لا أساس لها من الصحة، مؤكدة أن روسيا التزمت بالكامل بشروط المعاهدة، وأن تصرفات الدول نفسها تثير تساؤلات.
وفي بداية يوليو 2019، وقع الرئيس فلاديمير بوتين قانونا يعلق العمل بالمعاهدة، وفي أغسطس من نفس العام، توقف تطبيق المعاهدة.
